After a bit more time tweaking my Cinestar 6, I finally have it dialed in now and am getting some pretty smooth footage from it. More flights with the Sony NEX 5n and this time with auto focus on, which I usually never touch, but I thought I would give it a go to see how it would do with some basic crane/pan shots. For it’s size the camera is pretty impressive and can shoot video surprisingly close to the quality of my Sony FS-100. Definitely better then my 5D2 shoots as far as video resolution and aliasing .

Shot at 1080 60P and slowed to 30P.

I have nearly finished the new addition to the fleet for visual work… a Quadrocopter Cinestar 6.

Payloads will support our FS-100/5D2 and many other much smaller cameras like the NEX 5 or soon to be released NEX 7. I am again pretty impressed with the quality and general fitting of the kit as well as the MikroKopter electronics which power the rig and provide the GPS and NAV control for POI flying.

I finally got around to posting something as I have been busy working a lot this past winter and spring. I did manage to do a lot of shooting… just haven’t been in the writing mode. Anyways to make a long story short, I decided to grab a Canon T2i or 550D as it is also known. Firstly I love my 5D MarkII so I was going to get the 550D as a second or B-roll DSLR video camera for all of the canon glass I own… and not for stills. I had been reading the early reviews and basically felt it had been portrayed as the video equivalent of the 5D/7D without the cost and plus/minus a few features.

A quick trip out with the 550D and it proved to be a fairly decent addition to the other DSLR’s I own.
